Before the first hammer strikes a nail and the first wall is raised, many hours of work by dedicated volunteer has already occurred. Although the "behind the scenes"  work load is shared by the entire board and other committee volunteers, tasks are divided up into these committees.

Church Relations Committee: Jean Christianson, Chair
The committee will seek to strengthen the support of the affiliate's work by gaining volunteers, prayer and financial resources from all community churches.

Construction /Site Selection Committee: Carol Holmes, Chair
The committee to define the type of construction that best fits the needs of the local community and Habitat's goals, dealing specifically with house design criteria, materials, plans and cost estimates. This committee also works to define neighborhoods and communities to work with, and find available land on which to build. When buildable lots are found, it is the committee's responsibility to identify and recommend property for acquisition to the Board. The committee then follows through with the acquisition process.

Family Selection/Family Support Committee Jan Sanders, Chair
This committee defines the population in need of decent, affordable housing, and selecting those in greatest need. Throughout the application process this group makes sure that the applicant families meet the established criteria. When the board has approved a family, this committee works with partner families both before and after construction to make sure that families know what is required in the area of sweat equity, to help in the transition of true homeownership, and to help in the areas of budgeting and home maintenance.

Finance Committee: Bob Nelson, Chair

This committee is responsible for initiating financial policy, overseeing money management, completing a consolidated budget, recommending the review/audit of financials, grant writing and overseeing bookkeeping practices and insurance.

Fund Development /Public Relations Committee: Dan Blum/Wendy Cuevas

This committee identifies and approaches potential donors for either cash or "in-kind" gifts of material, labor, property or support. The group assists with the development of fund raising activities and events. This committee is also responsible for sharing Habitat's mission and activities with the community and all volunteers.
