Todd and Leah Neuenschwander and their 4 teenage daughters are the chosen family to partner with Habitat for Humanity of Green County to build a home this summer in Monticello. Their home will be built on Summit Ave. in Monticello. A ground breaking ceremony is scheduled for June 28th at 2 pm and the public is invited to attend!
MEET THE NEUENSCHWANDER’S
Todd and Leah currently work as hired herdsman for the Thoman Family Farms just west of Monticello. Leah handles the milking and Todd does the feeding and other chores around the farm. Before moving back to the Monticello area, the family lived for several years in the Fond Du Lac area where Leah is originally from. Todd has always considered Green County home. He grew up near South Wayne and has many friends and relatives in the area. Todd has already received commitments from many of them to help with the building this summer. Leah too, has come to consider Monticello home and is happy to see how well the girls are doing here in the small school environment.
Rachael, the oldest daughter will soon be turning 18 and graduated from Monticello High School last month.   She will be attending Carthage College in Kenosha this fall and plans to major in bio-chemistry. Rachael’s biggest passion is track and field and she has been recruited to be a member of the college track team. She is excited and looking forward to also joining some clubs and meeting new people.
Next in line is Rebecca, but everyone knows her as Becky. She is 16 and will be a sophomore next year. Becky is a great athlete and plays on both the basketball and softball teams in Monticello. Becky also has a real knack with animals. She loves dogs and they love her.
Katie is 14 and will be a freshman in the fall. Katie plays both volleyball and basketball in school, but her real passion is for singing. Katie loves to sing and has an amazing talent that she hopes to make a career out of some day. Besides singing in the school chorus, she will be singing in the  Zwingli Church and the Monticello Homecoming talent show.
Kelly is also 14 and a freshman this fall. She’s known as the brains in the family and is consistently on the honor roll at school. Kelly plays volleyball, basketball and softball. In her free time Kelly loves to spend time with little kids and plans to be a pediatrician some day.
Todd and Leah first heard about this Habitat opportunity at Grace Church in New Glarus where their family attends church.   When they found out they were actually chosen they were so excited.   “I have been praying for this so hard. Not for myself, but for my girls. To be able to give them a nice place to call home, one that they can help build. A home they can be proud to bring their friends to…this is something they have never had. That is why this means so much to me.” said Todd as he learned that his family had been chosen.
