Habitat for Humanity of Green County Seeking Next Homeowners
Habitat for Humanity of Green County (HFHGC) is seeking a Partner Family to make the move with us..
We are in search of our future new homeowners! Although some additional funds need to be raised; we are moving forward on faith that the funds will be provided We have a large 3 bedroom home that we will be moving from Pleasant View to 1017 17th Street in Monroe.
Habitat for Humanity does not give away homes. It gives low income families a "hand-up" by assisting those who might not otherwise be able to own a home. Habitat for Humanity was given the home by Green County and the lot where it will be moved to was obtained from Woodford State Bank at a substantial discount. The home will receive some needed updating and the cost to move a home of this size is not cheap, however, this Habitat home will be made available to the selected family at a great price.. As with all Habitat homes, this home will be sold to our partner family using interest-free financing, which often results in monthly mortgage payments that are less than rent.
Habitat has three main requirements for a Partner Family:
Their current housing must be substandard, i.e., ill-maintained, not suitable or too small for the family.
They must have enough steady income to pay for their new Habitat house along with their other bills and living expenses.
They must show their willingness to "partner" with Habitat, putting in 250 hours of "sweat equity" per each adult member on their new home or other projects as needed to complete their commitment..
If your family, or a family you know, is in need of decent, affordable housing, they should contact the Habitat office at 329-4024 or Fred Giese at 325-7161 for an application. The application package will be mailed out immediately and must be returned PROMPTLY.
Habitat for Humanity is a nonprofit, ecumenical Christian housing ministry. We invite people from all walks of life to work together in partnership to help build houses with families in need. Using donated money and materials, and volunteer labor, our purpose is to build and sell homes at no profit and no interest to families who could not otherwise afford a home.
We are pledged to the letter and spirit of the U.S. policy for the achievement of equal housing opportunity. HFHGC will not discriminate on the basis of race, creed, religion, age, national origin, color, sex, marital status, sexual orientation or source of income.
